Pet food

Pet food is not safe for human consumption. It doesn't meet the same standards as food made for people.

Don't eat pet food

It's illegal to process and sell pet food for human consumption.

You shouldn't eat it because you may become ill. If you're looking for a safe, protein-rich food that doesn't cost a lot of money, try:

  • eggs
  • cheese and other dairy products
  • dried beans, peas and lentils
  • cheaper cuts of meat
  • inexpensive fish.
