If you are a transport or wharf facility operator, the food safety requirements that apply depend on whether you transport or handle animal products for export or food for the NZ market.


Transporting animal products for export

If you for transport animal material and animal products that are intended for human or animal consumption and export with an official assurance (export certificate), then you must operate under one of the following:

  • a registered Risk Management Programme (RMP)
  • the Transport Regulated Control Scheme (RCS).

Handling products intended for export

Wharf operators that handle animal product or material intended for human or animal consumption and export with an official assurance must operate under one of the following:

  • a registered Risk Management Programme (RMP)
  • the Wharf Regulated Control Scheme (RCS).
