Growing the value of our food and fibre sector
The 'New Zealand Food Safety action plan 2025–2027' outlines how New Zealand Food Safety will contribute to MPI's mission: to grow the value of New Zealand's food and fibre sector.
The plan will guide the direction of New Zealand Food Safety for the next 3 years. It sets the framework for delivering the outcomes which underpin our vision: New Zealand food is trusted by everyone, everywhere.
The plan was developed in consultation with MPI staff and key external stakeholders and partners in the food safety system.
Vision and outcomes of the action plan
We will deliver 3 outcomes through this action plan.
- New Zealand food is safe and suitable.
- New Zealand has a thriving food economy.
- New Zealand has a well-functioning food safety system.
Under our outcomes, we set out our priorities and initiatives that will make the greatest impact on the New Zealand food safety system.
