The 17th summer trawl survey of hoki, hake, ling, and associated species in the Sub-Antarctic was carried out from 22 November to 22 December 2016. An unprecedented amount of survey time was lost due to bad weather which meant that 3 of the 15 core trawl survey strata were unable to be completed. Scaled core biomass estimates were up 21% (33 390 t, CV 14.1%) for hoki compared to the previous survey in 2014, down by 11% (26 656 t, CV 16 %) for ling, and down by 9% (1000 t, CV 25%) for hake.
