This study assessed the accuracy of methods used for estimating the maximum growth rate and the total size of seabird populations. These parameters are required for calculating the Potential Biological Removals (PBRs), used for assessing the impact of fishing-related mortalities on seabirds. The findings show that an additional calibration factor needs to be included when calculating the PBR. The calibration factor was found to be between 0.17 and 0.61, depending on the species.
