Draft IHS 155.02.06: Importation of Nursery Stock schedules for Citrus, Fortunella, and Poncirus

The New Zealand Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) must consult with interested parties before issuing or amending (other than of an urgent or minor nature) import health standards (IHSs) in accordance with Section 23 of the Biosecurity Act (1993).

MPI is making available for consultation a proposed amendment to the import health standard 155.02.06: Importation of Nursery Stock, schedule of special conditions for Citrus. This proposed amendment to the import requirements relates specifically to cuttings sourced from the offshore MPI-accredited facility Elizabeth Macarthur Agricultural Institute (EMAI), Australia. The cuttings must have been produced, tested, and certified in accordance with the agreement between MPI and EMAI, which is covered by Part 3.1 ‘Citrus cuttings from offshore MPI-accredited facilities (quarantine stations)’.

The proposed changes identified in the above draft IHS, will also be replicated in the Fortunella and Poncirus schedules, as these commodities are also approved under the scope of EMAI’s accreditation.

Information supporting the proposed amendment of this IHS can be found in the Risk Management Proposal [PDF, 400 KB].
