Proposed operational code for processing bee products

Update  19 December 2017

New operational code

The revised Operational Code - Processing bee products was published in December 2017. This replaces parts 1 to 4 of the Bee products code of practice and takes immediate effect.

Background

The Bee products code of practice is intended to give guidance on the currently agreed way to meet the regulatory requirements of MPI under the Animal Products Act 1999. But the existing code is out of date with current legislation.

Revised code

The Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) sought feedback on the proposed Operational code: Processing of bee products. It's been developed to help secondary processors of edible bee products comply with the requirements of the Animal Products Act 1999. It's been developed mainly for processors operating a risk management programme (RMP).
