Vessel biofouling is a major pathway for the introduction and spread of non-indigenous marine species. In-water systems for the removal or treatment of biofouling from vessel hulls have been proposed as a measure to manage the biosecurity risks from biofouling during the in-service operations of vessels. The testing framework will allow consenting authorities to make informed decisions regarding the biosecurity risk of in-water systems for removal or treatment of vessel biofouling.
