A preliminary evaluation of depletion modelling to assess New Zealand squid stocks: A De Lury depletion model was fitted using observer length frequency data and commercial catch and effort data from the Auckland Islands area in the 2008 fishing year. The model fitted the data well, however, estimated depletion was sensitive to the assumed value of natural mortality.
