The MPI viticulture monitoring programme was reviewed in 2013 and the decision to
develop gross margins of dominant grape varieties in Hawke’s Bay was trialled for the
2015 season. The success of the trial has led to the continuation of the gross margin
format and has also seen the expansion of the programme in Marlborough, Gisborne
and Wairarapa using a data entry portal within New Zealand Winegrowers website.
