The Standard is a policy statement of best practice in delivery and quality assurance of research and science information that is intended or likely to inform fisheries management decisions, regardless of the source of that information. It is intended to provide guidance on what constitutes high quality and reliable science information, and provides support for implementation of the information principles of Section 10 of the Fisheries Act 1996.
