The results of catch sampling and catch-at-age analyses of the commercial blue cod fishery in BCO 5 in 2017–18 and the first quarter of 2018–19 fishing years are presented, together with a commercial fishery characterisation (1999–2000 to 2017–18). A hybrid sampling programme was designed for BCO 5 which involved recruiting a small pool of fishers to retain the catch from the first pot hauled each day in a green (unprocessed) state.
