Kaitiaki in the Te Tai Hauāuru Regional Fisheries Forum and Tauranga Moana Iwi Customary Fisheries Trust play a significant role in assisting Marae with the provision of kaimoana (shellfish and finfish) for customary events held on Marae and other venues for whānau, hapū and Iwi. This Report identifies kaimoana species that are cultural significant to Iwi, how the current process is working for Marae and the main issues with gathering customary harvest data and working with Iwi.
