The biomass of smooth oreo in OEO 4 was estimated using a Bayesian CASAL age-structured population model. The 2014 model was fitted to biomass estimates from acoustic surveys carried out in 1998, 2001 , 2005, and 2012, and also included age frequency data collected from the 1998 and 2005 acoustic surveys. The base case assessment model estimated that the current mature biomass was 27% B0 (90% CI of 16–41%). Model results were strongly influenced by the assumed mean of the prior for the catchability coefficient.
