Catch per unit effort (CPUE) abundance indices were developed for smooth oreo Pseudocyttus maculatus from the Bounty Plateau (OEO 6) using GLM-standardisation procedures and preliminary spatial CPUE analyses. All indices indicated a reduction in the relative abundance of smooth oreo from 1995 to 2012. The spatial approach accounted for bias in the year effect or initial hyper depletion. Commercial CPUE data are the only information source available to evaluate stock status of oreo in OEO 6.
