Recent trends in the JDO 1 fishery are described and CPUE indices for three sub-areas of JDO 1 are updated. For the Hauraki Gulf–east Northland area, annual catches and CPUE indices declined considerably over the last decade and the CPUE indices have approached the interim soft limit biomass level in recent years. CPUE indices for the Bay of Plenty have also declined over the last five years, while CPUE indices for the west coast North Island have fluctuated about the average level.
