Forestry products Importing Countries Phytosanitary Requirements

Forestry products are also called wood products or timber products.

They include wooden containers or packaging materials used to export goods.

Use these definitions for your forestry product, unless there's conflicting information in the forestry products Importing Countries Phytosanitary Requirements (ICPRs).

Bark: The layer of a woody trunk, branch or root outside the cambium. Examples: Bark, bark chips, cork, and items containing unprocessed bark.

Logs: Wood carrying its natural rounded surface that requires further processing and is not sawn longitudinally.

Wood/Timber – Poles: Wood carrying its natural rounded surface, not requiring further processing, not sawn longitudinally and without bark (see ICPRs for bark tolerances). Examples: poles, piles, pickets, rounds.

Wood/Timber – Sawn: Wood sawn longitudinally, with or without its natural rounded surface. Examples: rough sawn and dressed (planed) timber, half rounds, mouldings, dowelling, peeler cores, plywood/ LVL and veneer with veneers over 5mm thick, solid timber flooring, solid wood packaging material and dunnage exported as a commodity.

Wood/Timber – Chips: Wood pieces no larger than 15mm long by 10mm in cross section. Examples: wood chips, wood shavings, wood wool and sawdust.

Wood products – Veneer: Sliced or peeled wood veneers of thickness 5mm or less.

Wood products – Plywood/ LVL: Processed wood material composed of wood veneers (veneers 5mm or less thick) manufactured using glue, heat, and pressure or any combination thereof.

Wood products – Reconstituted: Processed wood material that is a composite of wood fragments constructed using glue, heat and pressure or any combination thereof. Examples: particleboard, oriented strand board (OSB), fibreboard (MDF) and chip board.

Wood products – Manufactured: Wooden articles that have been commercially manufactured and do not require further processing. Examples: Wooden barrels, furnishings containing wood, household goods and utensils containing wood.

Wood products – Artifacts: Wooden articles that have not been commercially manufactured and do not require further processing. Examples: carvings, spears, statues, masks, blowpipes, bows, weapon handles, arrows and shields.

Wood products – Packaging: Wood and wood products used in supporting, protecting or carrying a commodity, excluding paper products and wood packaging and dunnage exported as a commodity. Examples: Dunnage, cases, crates, boxes, fillets, spacers, pallets, drums, reels, and gluts.
