Free of quarantine pests [PDF, 188 KB] including: Monochamus spp., Dendroctonus spp., Sirex spp., Platypus spp., Pissodes spp., Phytophthora spp., Ips spp. and Tomicus spp.

Free of holes caused by feeding of insects.

Note: Monochamus spp., Pissodes spp. and Ips spp. are not known to occur in New Zealand.

Fungi

Free of quarantine pests [PDF, 188 KB] including: Calonectria spp., Ceratocystis spp., Ophiostoma spp., Fusarium circinatum, Lanchnellula willkommii and Gremmeniella abietina.

Note: Fusarium circinatum is not known to occur in New Zealand.

Soil

Free of soil.

Other

Free of quarantine pests [PDF, 188 KB] including nematodes: Bursaphelenchus mueronatus, and Bursaphelenchus xylophylus.

Note: Bursaphelenchus xylohpylus is not known to occur in New Zealand.

Pre-Shipment Inspections

Verification inspection required.

Approved Pre-Shipment Treatments

Logs must be fumigated, kiln dried or heat treated.

Fumigation

Methyl bromide fumigation:

48g/m³ for 24 hours at 21˚C, or
56g/m3 for 24 hours at 16-20°C, or
64g/m3 for 24 hours at 11-15°C, or
72g/m3 for 24 hours at 10°C.

Heat treatments

Maximum moisture content 14%, minimum temperature 74˚C for one of the following durations depending on the thickness of the wood:

Minimum temperature 70˚C for minimum duration 4 hours.

The original thermograph sheet verified by an Independent Verification Agency (IVA) is to be supplied to an authorised MPI personnel for stamping and signing. This must then be presented at the Iran border.

General
