2. Contact an Independent Verification Agency (IVA).
You need to use an MPI-authorised Independent Verification Agency (IVA), which can advise you about meeting your compliance requirements (like documentation, tests, or treatments). Fees may apply.

3. Follow the programme requirements for your destination country.
Official agreements between New Zealand and some export markets aim to make exporting easier or are needed to enable exports. The requirements are set out in Official Assurance Programmes (OAPs) or pre-clearance programmes.
If you're growing, packing, storing, and/or exporting summerfruit to Australia, Western Australia, Japan, or Korea, check the procedures you need to follow.
MPI-registered production sites (growers), packhouses, and exporters must be used to get your product to market. The contact details are listed in Registers and lists.

Australia
The OPI programme allows for phytosanitary inspections to be done in New Zealand by the Australian Department of Agriculture. It provides more certainty for exporters, as the product inspection occurs in New Zealand rather than in Australia. This should result in faster clearance times on arrival.
Programme participants for the OPI of summerfruit to Australia are listed in Registers and lists.
Western Australia (WA)
Summerfruit exported to Western Australia must meet the requirements stated in the OAP. These may include activities by the growers, packers, storage facility operators, and exporters.
