About this form

Complete this form if you do primary processing of fish and fish product, including washing, scaling, gutting, deheading, tubing, tailing, chilling, freezing, storage, packing, or transport.

Use this form to register a limited processing fishing vessel (LPFV) for the first time, renew your registration, make changes, or cancel your registration. 

Your registration will be valid for 1 year. You must submit a renewal application before expiry to maintain your registration. MPI will remind you when your renewal is due.

The cost for a new registration or a renewal is $155.25 including GST. You can pay by credit or debit card or by direct credit. A tax receipt is available on request.

Documents

Scan and upload a copy of, or evidence of, the registration of the fishing vessel under section 103 of the Fisheries Act 1996 (such as a FishServe certificate of registration)

Scan and upload a copy of the original verification report on the vessel, made by your recognised verifier. The date of this report must be within the last 3 months.

Scan and upload a list of the documents that form the operator documented system, signed by the recognised verifier.

  4. I am resident in New Zealand within the meaning of section YD 1 or YD 2 (excluding section YD 2(2)) of the Income Tax Act 2007.

In the reference details, put the word 'LPFV' and your company name. Also include your MPI registration ID or your NZBN (if you have one).

After you submit your application

Processing time is up to 20 working days from the time we determine that your application is complete. When your application has been approved by MPI, you will be added to a published list of limited processing fishing vessels.
