Codex’s 60th Anniversary
In 2023, the Codex Alimentarius Commission celebrated its 60th anniversary. Since Codex’s inception in 1963, New Zealand has played a leading role in the work of the commission to set and promote international food standards. This has helped to build New Zealand’s reputation as a high performer in food safety and increased our market access for food exports.
At a celebratory event at Parliament on 20 June 2023, New Zealand launched its strategic objectives for participation in Codex.
