Requirements for service providers of homekill, wild meat, and game

Do not complete this form if you are also a retail butcher at the same address where you process homekill. You must register a Risk Management Programme with MPI as a duel operator butcher.

Dual operator butcher requirements

Use this form to list as a homekill and recreational catch service provider for the first time, make changes, or cancel your listing.

Listing is valid for 1 year. Before your renewal date, you will receive an email with instructions on what you need to do to renew.

The cost for a new listing is $270.25 including GST. This includes an application fee of $155.25 including GST and an annual levy of $115 including GST. You can pay by credit or debit card or by direct credit. A tax receipt is available on request.

Under the Animal Products (Fees, Charges, and Levies) Regulations 2007, homekill and recreational catch service providers are charged an annual levy of $115 per annum including GST, to meet the costs of auditing homekill and recreational catch service providers for compliance with the Animal Products Act.

  4. I understand that if there are future, ongoing levies or charges for business activity, MPI will send me an invoice for these charges. Any late or non-payment may result in a penalty fee, lodgement with a credit collection agent and/or withdrawal of service.

To pay by credit or debit card (Visa or MasterCard) go to our payments page and use the link for our secure online payment system. When making payment, you'll be asked to select the type of fee. Choose 'Animal Products Act'. Return to this page to enter your receipt number and submit your AP2 application.

To pay by direct credit, use the MPI bank account number 03 0049 0001709 002.

In the reference details, put the word 'Homekill' and your company name. Also include your MPI registration ID or your NZBN (if you have one).

After you submit your application

Processing time is up to 20 working days from the time we determine that your application is complete. When your application has been approved by MPI, you will be added to a published list of homekill and recreational catch service providers.
