Veterinary medicine products range from antibiotics and vaccines to animal shampoos. They help prevent, treat, or control diseases or conditions in animals. MPI sets strict import requirements on these products.

Importing veterinary medicines

When importing veterinary medicine products:

all require an authorisation
most need to be New Zealand registered
some low-risk types don't need to be registered – they're exempt
all must comply with requirements under the Agricultural Compounds and Veterinary Medicines (ACVM) Act.
