A list of requirement documents you need to meet when importing horses to New Zealand.
The IHS for Equids is suspended until further notice to allow time for a rapid risk assessment and consultation to be carried out for piroplasmosis, following recent identification of an infected horse in New Zealand. Trade in horses can continue under the IHS: Horses, HORANIIC.GEN which has amended testing requirements for piroplasmosis while the risk assessment and consultation on the IHS: Equids are undertaken.
The import health standard was issued in 2015.

The Import Health Standard: Equids does not yet have negotiated veterinary certificates for import. The country specific negotiated certificates under the Import Health Standard: Horses are available for use until new veterinary certificates have been renegotiated with those countries.
