MPI Treatment Requirements: Approved Biosecurity Treatments [PDF, 1.1 MB]
This standard outlines approved biosecurity treatment options for risk goods that require treatment to obtain biosecurity clearance from MPI. These approved treatments can be incorporated by reference within an import health standard or mandated by an inspector.
Treatment information on this page is categorised by the type of product being imported, which can be selected below under “Choose a category”. On each category page dropdown options are provided to help you refine your search if needed. This web view is simplified and only presents the most relevant aspects of the treatment. Always refer to Approved Biosecurity Treatments for complete information.
The treatment information provided, such as dosage, temperature, exposure time, application method, concentration time (CT) values etc. are the minimum requirements that need to be met for the treatment to be considered effective. Each treatment is assigned a short code for easy reference. Notes and comments related to the treatment contain important information that must be followed alongside the treatment. Treatment details, short codes, notes, and comments are regularly reviewed and updated.
Methyl bromide is only to be used for official treatments:

For treatments that are being applied in New Zealand, the treatment must be carried out by an MPI-approved treatment provider. Importers should check treatment availability prior to importing goods.
