Scientific research helps us understand how we can maintain, develop, and improve forests and forestry in New Zealand. Research gives us data about the best ways to look after our:

- exotic forests, with trees introduced to New Zealand.

- improve the way we manage forests
- support the economic prosperity of the forestry sector.
