Papers considered
Four papers were presented to the panel for consideration:
- Direct nitrous oxide (N2O) emission factors to livestock excreta based on hill slope
- A revised methodology for splitting nitrogen between livestock dung and urine
- Use of revised activity data on dairy effluent management
- Improvements and corrections to inventory model
Outcomes
The panel did not recommend the use of revised N2O emission factors for livestock based on hill slope, due to concerns about the statistical analysis of the collected data. It asked for a revised analysis that would address their concerns.
The panel recommended that the new method proposed for splitting nitrogen between livestock dung and urine be adopted and used in the inventory.
The panel recommended that the new activity data on dairy effluent management be used in the inventory.
The panel noted the improvements and corrections planned for the 2019 inventory submission.
